The effects of climate change are already being felt in the form of increased temperatures, erratic weather patterns, shifting agricultural boundaries, invasive crops and pests, and more frequent severe weather events. The Ganges, which runs through the state of Uttar Pradesh for about 1140 kilometres, is one of the most important waterways in the world. It provides India with water, food security, and 40% of its gross domestic product. Agriculture is the biggest sector of Uttar Pradesh's economy.
While the State summits in the 2nd edition of the Sustainability 100+ campaign draws to a close, we look at the economics, partnerships and action needed today to re-energise and reinvent agriculture for securing our country’s lifeline for the next 100 years and beyond.
