Efficient waste management is the need of the hour, and Karnataka is leading by example on how states can manage their segregation and disposal methods to create a circular economy. With a conscious focus on ensuring recycling, reusing, and eliminating waste, the state has built a restorative economic model and significantly improved resource efficiency.
NITI Aayog’s SDG Index 2019 ranked the state as a front-runner for its robust waste management strategies and innovative ways to boost a circular economy.
Hence, the fourth edition of our Champion States Series will recognise Karnataka’s tireless efforts in developing a successful circular economy. The series will delve into how Karnataka is reducing packaging waste through robust programmes and effective policies. The discussion will also highlight Karnataka’s implementation of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and shed light on the state’s efforts in preserving natural resources as well.
